Indications
Eliquis (Apixaban) is indicated for the prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients undergoing hip or knee replacement surgery. It is also used for the prevention of stroke and thromboembolic events in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. Additionally, it is prescribed for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), as well as for the prevention of recurrence of these conditions.
Composition
Each Eliquis tablet contains 2.5 mg of Apixaban as the active ingredient. Other components include excipients necessary for the drug formulation.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Apixaban or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with active disease that presents a significant risk of bleeding, as well as in those with severe renal impairment or in patients undergoing concomitant treatment with certain anticoagulant drugs.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when using Eliquis in patients with a history of gastrointestinal bleeding, liver disease, uncontrolled hypertension, or in those requiring invasive procedures. Renal function and coagulation parameters should be monitored in patients with additional risk factors.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
