Indications
Elantan is indicated for the treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris. This medication acts as a vasodilator, decreasing the workload of the heart and improving blood flow to the heart muscle. It is also used in the management of pulmonary hypertension and may be part of a therapeutic regimen for patients with heart failure. It is important that Elantan is used under proper medical supervision, and that periodic evaluations are performed to monitor efficacy and potential adverse effects.
Composition
Each tablet contains 40 mg of isosorbide mononitrate as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients that facilitate its formulation.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to isosorbide mononitrate or any component of the formula. It should not be used in patients with cardiogenic shock, severe anemia, intracranial hemorrhage, or in those receiving treatment with phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitors.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of myocardial infarction, hypotension, or in those with conditions that may compromise hemodynamics. It is essential to evaluate liver and kidney function before starting treatment. It is recommended to avoid alcohol consumption during treatment, as it may increase the risk of adverse effects.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
