Indications

Efexor XR is indicated for the treatment of major depressive episodes in adults. It is also used in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder and social anxiety disorder. This medication works by modulating the activity of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain, which helps improve mood and reduce anxiety.

It is important to follow the doctor's instructions for dose adjustment, as needs may vary from patient to patient. The administration of Efexor XR should be gradual, starting with lower doses and increasing as recommended, to minimize side effects.

Composition

Each Efexor XR capsule contains 37.5 mg of venlafaxine as hydrochloride. In addition, it contains excipients that allow for the formulation of the extended-release capsule.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to venlafaxine or to any of the components of the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients receiving treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and in those with a history of uncontrolled hypertension.

Precautions

Caution is advised in patients with a history of seizure disorders, mania, or those at risk of suicide. It should be used with caution in patients with cardiovascular diseases and in those who consume alcohol. Regular monitoring of blood pressure is essential during treatment.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
