Indications

Ectaprim F is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to the combination of trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole. It is effective in the treatment of urinary tract infections, such as cystitis and pyelonephritis. It is also used in the treatment of respiratory infections, such as bronchitis and bacterial pneumonia. This combination of antibiotics works by inhibiting folic acid synthesis in bacteria, which results in stopping their growth and reproduction. In addition, Ectaprim F can be used for the treatment of gastrointestinal infections, such as diarrhea caused by Shigella and Salmonella.

Composition

Each Ectaprim F tablet contains 160 mg of trimethoprim and 800 mg of sulfamethoxazole as active ingredients. It also contains excipients that facilitate its formulation.

Contraindications

Ectaprim F is not recommended for use in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to trimethoprim, sulfamethoxazole, or any of the components of the formula. It is also contraindicated in cases of severe renal failure and in patients with megaloblastic anemia due to folate deficiency.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of hematological diseases, hepatic or renal insufficiency. It is important to monitor renal function during treatment, especially in elderly patients or those with pre-existing conditions. It is recommended to evaluate the need for folinic acid supplementation in patients who may be at risk of folate deficiency.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
