Indications
Ebixa is indicated for the treatment of patients with moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease. Memantine, its active ingredient, acts as a non-competitive antagonist of NMDA receptors, which helps regulate the activity of glutamate, a neurotransmitter involved in learning and memory. Its use in this context may contribute to improving cognitive function and reducing the progression of symptoms associated with Alzheimer's disease.
Composition
Each Ebixa tablet contains 10 mg of memantine, as well as excipients necessary for its formulation. It is important to check the product labeling for all components present in the formulation.
Contraindications
Ebixa is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to memantine or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should also be avoided in patients with a history of uncontrolled seizures or those with severe renal impairment.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of seizures, cardiovascular diseases, or those receiving treatment with other medications that affect kidney function. Regular medical follow-up is essential to assess the efficacy and tolerability of the treatment.
