Indications
Dramamine Syrup is indicated for the treatment and prevention of nausea, vomiting, and dizziness caused by motion (motion sickness). It is useful in travel situations and can be used by patients who experience dizziness in cars, boats, planes, and other modes of transport. It is also used in the management of vertigo symptoms in patients with vestibular disorders. Additionally, it may be indicated as a sedative to aid in the treatment of anxiety and insomnia in some cases, although this should be evaluated by a physician.
Composition
Each 5 ml of syrup contains 12.5 mg of dimenhydrinate, as well as necessary excipients for the product's formulation.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to dimenhydrinate or any of the components of the formula. It should not be administered to patients with narrow-angle glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, or those with urinary retention. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding, unless otherwise directed by a physician.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with liver diseases, cardiovascular diseases, or those who are taking medications that may cause central nervous system depression. It is recommended to avoid use in combination with alcohol, as it may enhance the sedative effects of dimenhydrinate. Do not operate heavy machinery or drive vehicles while under the effect of this medication.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the packaging.
