Indications
Dramamine is indicated for the prevention and treatment of nausea, vomiting, and dizziness associated with motion sickness. It is also used in the treatment of symptoms of postoperative nausea and vomiting. Its action is based on the antagonism of H1 histamine receptors, which helps reduce the excitability of the vomiting center in the central nervous system.
Composition
Each Dramamine tablet contains 50 mg of dimenhydrinate as an active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients such as starch, microcrystalline cellulose, and magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to dimenhydrinate or any of the components of the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma, prostatic hyperplasia, and those undergoing treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs).
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and those with cardiovascular diseases. Alcohol consumption should be avoided during treatment, as it may potentiate the sedative effects of dimenhydrinate. Its use is not recommended in children under 2 years of age without medical supervision.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
