Indications
Dramamine is indicated for the prevention and treatment of nausea, vomiting, and dizziness associated with motion, including motion sickness. It is also used in the treatment of postoperative nausea and vomiting and to relieve the symptoms of Meniere's disease and other inner ear disorders that cause dizziness. Its antihistamine action helps block histamine receptors in the vestibular system and in the vomiting center of the brain, which helps to reduce the sensation of dizziness.
Composition
Each Dramamine tablet contains 50 mg of dimenhydrinate as the active ingredient. Additionally, it includes excipients such as starch, lactose, and magnesium stearate in its formulation.
Contraindications
It should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to dimenhydrinate or to any of the excipients in the formula. It is contraindicated in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma, prostatic enlargement, and in those who have difficulty urinating.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with respiratory problems, such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and in those who consume alcohol, as it may increase the sedative effects of the medication. It is recommended to avoid activities that require full attention, such as driving or operating heavy machinery, while using the medication.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
