Indications
Dostinex (cabergoline) is indicated for the treatment of hyperprolactinemia, which can be caused by prolactin-producing pituitary adenomas. It is indicated in patients with disorders related to excess prolactin, such as galactorrhea, amenorrhea, and sexual dysfunction. Additionally, it is used for the treatment of Parkinson's disease in patients who have not responded adequately to other treatments or who have dopamine intolerance. Cabergoline acts as a dopamine receptor agonist, helping to reduce prolactin levels and improve associated symptoms.
Composition
Each Dostinex tablet contains 0.5 mg of cabergoline as the active ingredient. Excipients include lactose monohydrate, corn starch, talc, and other inert components that facilitate the formulation of the medicine.
Contraindications
Dostinex is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cabergoline or to any of the excipients in the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe liver dysfunction and in those with a history of severe cardiovascular disease, including uncontrolled hypertension. Its use during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended without adequate medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of cardiovascular problems, psychiatric disorders, or liver disease. During treatment, regular blood pressure monitoring should be performed, as orthostatic hypotension may occur in some patients. It is important to inform the doctor about any other medications being taken and about previous medical conditions.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use the medicine after the expiry date indicated on the package.
