Indications
Dolac (Ketorolac) is indicated for the management of moderate to severe acute pain, including postoperative pain and pain related to surgical procedures. It is also used in the treatment of pain associated with various medical conditions, such as musculoskeletal pain, dental pain, and pain associated with trauma. Its analgesic action is due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandins, substances involved in mediating pain and inflammation. The use of Ketorolac is indicated in situations where effective pain control is required and the use of opioids is to be minimized. This medication is generally reserved for cases where oral treatment is not appropriate or not possible.
Composition
Each Dolac ampoule contains: Ketorolac tromethamine 30 mg/ml. Excipients: sodium chloride, water for injection.
Contraindications
Dolac is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Ketorolac or any component of the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of active peptic ulcer, gastrointestinal bleeding, severe renal insufficiency, and in those who are receiving anticoagulants or have coagulation disorders. Likewise, its use is contraindicated during the third trimester of pregnancy and during lactation.
Precautions
Precautions should be taken when administering Dolac to patients with a history of gastrointestinal problems, hypertension, heart failure, or in those who are taking other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is important to monitor renal function in patients treated for prolonged periods. It is recommended to evaluate the need for treatment in elderly patients or those with pre-existing medical conditions.
