Indications
Distrafin is indicated for the treatment of allergic rhinitis symptoms, including nasal congestion, sneezing, nasal itching, and rhinorrhea. It is also used to relieve common cold symptoms, providing a decongestant and antihistamine effect. It is useful for patients experiencing seasonal or perennial allergy symptoms, as well as those experiencing discomfort related to allergen exposure. The combination of phenylephrine, a decongestant, and loratadine, a second-generation antihistamine, allows for effective and rapid symptom relief without causing significant drowsiness, making it suitable for daytime use.
Composition
Each 5 ml of Distrafin contains:
- Phenylephrine: 200 mg
- Loratadine: 50 mg
Contraindications
Distrafin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its components. It should not be used in patients with severe cardiovascular diseases, uncontrolled hypertension, or those being treated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). It is also contraindicated in pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Distrafin to patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, or those taking other medications that may enhance the effect of phenylephrine. A medical evaluation is recommended before starting treatment in these cases. Long-term safety has not been established, so its use should be limited to what is strictly necessary.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
