Indications

Diovan is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure in adults and children over 6 years of age. It is also used in the treatment of heart failure in adults, as well as to reduce the risk of cardiovascular mortality in patients with a history of myocardial infarction. Valsartan works by blocking angiotensin II receptors, which helps to relax blood vessels and lower blood pressure. This medication can be administered alone or in combination with other antihypertensives.

Composition

Each Diovan tablet contains 320 mg of valsartan as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, and other inactive components that facilitate tablet formulation.

Contraindications

Diovan is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to valsartan or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women, or in patients with bilateral renal artery stenosis or those with a history of angioedema associated with previous treatments with angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Diovan to patients with a history of kidney, heart, or liver disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function and blood potassium levels is recommended. In case of surgery or anesthesia, it is important to inform the doctor about current valsartan treatment.

Storage

Store the product in its original packaging at room temperature, protected from light and humidity. Keep out of reach of children.
