Indications
Diovan is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension in adults and children over six years of age. Its use is recommended as a treatment for heart failure in adults. Additionally, it is used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with hypertension and left ventricular dysfunction post-myocardial infarction. Valsartan acts by blocking angiotensin II receptors, leading to a decrease in blood pressure and an improvement in cardiac function.
Composition
Each Diovan tablet contains 160 mg of valsartan as the active ingredient. Excipients include lactose monohydrate, corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, and other inactive components that facilitate tablet formulation.
Contraindications
Diovan is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to valsartan or any of the excipients in the formula. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation, as well as in patients with bilateral renal artery stenosis or stenosis of a single functional kidney, and in those with a history of angioedema related to previous treatments with angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of liver disease, kidney problems, or those undergoing diuretic treatment. Diovan use should be supervised by a physician in patients with diabetes mellitus or those who are dehydrated. It is suggested to monitor renal function and blood potassium levels during treatment.
Storage
Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep in a dry place and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the packaging.
