Indications
Dimefor XR is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. This medication is used as part of a treatment regimen that includes diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in patients with this condition. Metformin is the active molecule that helps reduce blood glucose levels, improving insulin sensitivity and decreasing hepatic glucose production. Additionally, Dimefor XR can be used in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin in patients who do not achieve adequate glucose control with monotherapy.
Composition
Each Dimefor XR tablet contains 750 mg of metformin as an active ingredient. It also contains excipients that allow for the formulation of the medication, ensuring its stability and controlled release.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to metformin or any other component of the formula. It should not be administered in cases of severe renal insufficiency, metabolic acidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis, or in situations of severe dehydration. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe heart disease or who are in shock.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of kidney, liver, or heart disease. It is important to monitor renal function before and during treatment with Dimefor XR, as well as to evaluate for any symptoms of lactic acidosis. Furthermore, it is recommended to supervise patients who are about to undergo surgical procedures or radiological studies involving the use of iodinated contrast agents.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
