Indications
Dimefor XR 750 mg is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, as part of a blood glucose control regimen. This medication is used in overweight patients in whom diet and exercise have not been sufficient to control glucose levels. Dimefor can also be used in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin, as determined by the doctor. Constant monitoring of blood glucose levels is recommended to assess treatment efficacy and make adjustments as necessary.
Composition
Each tablet of Dimefor XR contains 750 mg of metformin as hydrochloride. Excipients: a sufficient quantity to obtain one tablet.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to metformin or any of the excipients. It should not be administered in cases of severe renal insufficiency, acute diseases that may alter renal function, hepatic insufficiency, and in situations that may cause lactic acidosis, such as severe dehydration or serious infections.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of kidney, liver, or heart diseases. It is important to perform renal function tests before and during metformin treatment, and to be careful in patients over 65 years of age. During surgical procedures or imaging studies involving iodinated contrast, the use of metformin should be temporarily suspended.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of the reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
