Indications
Dimefor is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It is used as a first-line treatment in overweight patients, as well as in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin, when diet and exercise do not achieve adequate glucose control. Metformin helps improve insulin sensitivity, decrease hepatic glucose production, and delay intestinal carbohydrate absorption. It is recommended for patients at risk of cardiovascular complications due to its favorable effect on the lipid profile.
Composition
Each tablet contains: Metformin (as hydrochloride) 850 mg.
Contraindications
Dimefor is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to metformin or to any of the excipients in the formula, in those with severe renal insufficiency (GFR < 30 ml/min), in cases of hepatic insufficiency, and in situations that may cause lactic acidosis, such as severe dehydration or serious infections. Its use is not recommended during pregnancy, except under medical indication.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Dimefor to patients with compromised renal function, as it may increase the risk of lactic acidosis. Regular monitoring of renal function and blood glucose levels is important. Likewise, temporary suspension of treatment should be considered in situations of acute stress, such as surgery or infections, that may alter glucose control.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at temperatures not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
