Indications
Dilacoran is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension and for the management of angina pectoris, as well as for heart rate control in patients with atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter. This medication acts as a calcium channel blocker, which allows for the dilation of blood vessels and decreases peripheral vascular resistance, thus contributing to the reduction of blood pressure. Additionally, it is used in the treatment of certain cardiac arrhythmias, providing a stabilizing effect on heart rhythm.
Composition
Each Dilacoran tablet contains 40 mg of verapamil as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients that facilitate its formulation and absorption. It is important to check the product labeling for a complete list of excipients.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to verapamil or any other component of the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with severe bradycardia, second- or third-degree heart block, decompensated heart failure, or sick sinus syndrome. It is also contraindicated in those with severe hypotension or a history of cardiogenic shock.
Precautions
Dilacoran should be used with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment, as well as in those with a history of arrhythmias. Regular monitoring of blood pressure and heart rate is essential, especially at the start of treatment. In addition, caution should be exercised in patients taking other medications that may interact with verapamil.
