Indications
Detrusitol is indicated for the treatment of overactive bladder symptoms, which include urinary urgency, urinary frequency, and urge urinary incontinence. It is an antimuscarinic that works by blocking muscarinic receptors in the bladder, which helps reduce involuntary contractions and improve urine storage capacity. This medication is designed for patients who experience these symptoms and require effective management to improve their quality of life.
Composition
Each tablet contains 2 mg of tolterodine as tartrate, as well as excipients necessary for the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
Detrusitol is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to tolterodine or any of the excipients of the medication. It is also contraindicated in patients with urinary retention, narrow-angle glaucoma, and myasthenia gravis, as well as in those who are receiving concomitant treatment with medications that cause significant anticholinergic effects.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal obstruction, liver or kidney disorders, as well as in those with cardiovascular problems. Monitoring of patients over 65 years of age is recommended, and the dose should be adjusted as necessary. Detrusitol administration may affect the ability to drive or operate machinery, so the possibility of dizziness or drowsiness should be considered.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in its original packaging and protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
