Indications
Depo-Medrol is indicated in the treatment of various inflammatory and allergic conditions, as well as autoimmune diseases. It is used for the management of diseases such as asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and other conditions requiring anti-inflammatory therapy. It is also prescribed in situations of adrenal insufficiency and for the treatment of some types of cancer, as part of a chemotherapy regimen. Methylprednisolone acts by reducing inflammation and modulating the body's immune response.
Composition
Each ampoule contains 40 mg of methylprednisolone as the active ingredient. Excipients: water for injection, sodium chloride, hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide.
Contraindications
Depo-Medrol is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to methylprednisolone or any of its excipients. It should not be administered in uncontrolled systemic infections, as well as in patients with active tuberculosis. It is also contraindicated in cases of peptic ulcers, severe osteoporosis, and in situations of acute renal failure.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Depo-Medrol to patients with infections, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and those who have recently received vaccines. It is important to monitor patients who experience adverse effects, especially during prolonged treatments. Abrupt discontinuation of treatment can lead to withdrawal syndrome; a gradual dose reduction is recommended.
Storage
Store at a temperature between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Protect from light and keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date printed on the package.
