Indications
Demus (Cholecalciferol) is indicated for the prevention and treatment of vitamin D deficiency in adults and children. It is especially useful in situations where sun exposure is limited or when there is an increased need for vitamin D, such as in cases of osteoporosis, rickets, or metabolic bone diseases. This medication helps maintain adequate levels of calcium and phosphorus in the body, which is essential for bone health and the normal functioning of the immune system.
Composition
Each capsule contains: Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) 100,000 IU, excipients: gelatin, glycerin, and other inactive components.
Contraindications
Demus is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cholecalciferol or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in those with hypercalcemia, hypervitaminosis D, and diseases that increase calcium absorption.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with kidney disease, sarcoidosis, or who are being treated with thiazide diuretics, as these may increase the risk of hypercalcemia. It is advisable to monitor serum calcium levels during treatment. The use of this medication without the supervision of a healthcare professional is not recommended.
