Indications

Dabex XR is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. This medication is used as part of a therapeutic regimen that includes diet and exercise, with the aim of improving glycemic control in patients with hyperglycemia. Metformin works by decreasing glucose production in the liver and improving insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues, which helps reduce blood sugar levels. Dabex XR can be used alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin in patients who cannot control their diabetes with metformin alone.

Composition

Each Dabex XR tablet contains: Metformin 500 mg.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to metformin or any of its components. It should also be avoided in cases of severe renal insufficiency, hepatic insufficiency, as well as in conditions that can cause lactic acidosis, such as severe dehydration or severe infections. It should not be administered to patients with a history of lactic acidosis or in a state of shock.

Precautions

Regular monitoring of renal function is recommended in patients receiving metformin treatment, especially in those over 65 years of age. It is important to consider suspending Dabex XR in situations that may increase the risk of lactic acidosis, such as major surgeries or diagnostic procedures involving the use of iodinated contrasts. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular diseases.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
