Indications

Dabex XR is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, especially in overweight patients. It is used as a first-line medication for blood glucose control, by improving insulin sensitivity and reducing hepatic glucose production. It can also be used in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin to achieve better glycemic control. Metformin is not indicated for the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus.

Composition

Each Dabex XR tablet contains 500 mg of metformin as metformin hydrochloride, in addition to excipients that facilitate its administration and absorption.

Contraindications

Dabex XR is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to metformin or any of the components of the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe renal insufficiency (creatinine clearance less than 30 ml/min), metabolic acidosis, and in conditions that could lead to dehydration, such as vomiting, severe diarrhea, or severe infections.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Dabex XR in patients with moderate renal insufficiency, liver diseases, or those who are undergoing treatment with other medications that may affect renal function. It is important to monitor renal function before and during treatment. Furthermore, the use of Dabex XR should be avoided in situations that increase the risk of lactic acidosis, such as dehydration, excessive alcohol consumption, and critical conditions.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place and away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
