Indications

Dabex XR (Metformin) is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, as an adjunct to appropriate diet and exercise. This medication is used in patients whose blood glucose levels are not adequately controlled with diet and exercise alone. Dabex XR can be administered as monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin. It can also be used to reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes in overweight patients with impaired fasting glucose.

Composition

Each Dabex XR tablet contains 1000 mg of metformin (as metformin hydrochloride) and excipients necessary for its formulation.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to metformin or any of the excipients. It is also contraindicated in cases of severe renal insufficiency, acute and chronic diseases affecting renal function, metabolic acidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and in the use of certain procedures requiring iodinated contrast.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when using Dabex XR in patients with a history of liver or kidney disease, as well as in those who consume excessive alcohol. Regular monitoring of renal function and blood glucose levels is recommended, especially at the start of treatment and during dose adjustments. In patients over 65 years of age, stricter monitoring is suggested due to the risk of decreased renal function.

Storage

Store at room temperature, in a dry and cool place, protected from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
