Indications

Dabex is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults and children over 10 years of age. This medication is used as part of a treatment plan that may include diet and exercise to control blood glucose levels. Dabex can be used alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin. It is especially useful in overweight and obese patients, as it can help reduce body weight and improve insulin sensitivity.

Composition

Each Dabex tablet contains 500 mg of metformin as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients that facilitate its formulation and stability.

Contraindications

Dabex is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to metformin or to any of the excipients in the formula. It is also contraindicated in those with severe renal failure, metabolic acidosis, and in situations of severe dehydration or septicemia. It should not be used in patients with active liver disease or in those who consume excessive alcohol.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with compromised kidney function, as well as in those who are scheduled for surgical procedures or radiological studies involving the use of iodinated contrast media. Renal function should be monitored regularly during treatment with Dabex. In addition, patients are advised to follow an appropriate diet and exercise program to optimize glycemic control.
