Indications
Cymbalta (duloxetine) is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder in adults. It is also used for the management of diabetic neuropathic pain and for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Duloxetine acts as a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, which helps to improve mood and reduce pain perception in patients with chronic conditions. Its use in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorders has proven effective, helping to decrease anxiety and improve patients' quality of life.
Composition
Each Cymbalta capsule contains 30 mg of duloxetine, as well as excipients that enable the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
Cymbalta is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to duloxetine or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered in combination with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and in patients with moderate to severe hepatic insufficiency. Its use in individuals with a history of manic episodes or bipolar disorders should be carefully evaluated.
Precautions
Caution is advised in patients with a history of liver or kidney disorders, as well as in those at risk of suicide. Abrupt discontinuation of treatment can cause discontinuation symptoms; therefore, a gradual dose reduction under medical supervision is recommended. The potential for interactions with other medications, especially those affecting the central nervous system, should also be considered.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place and out of reach of children.
