Indications
Cymbalta is indicated for the treatment of major depression in adults. It is also used for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorders and for the management of neuropathic pain associated with diabetes. Duloxetine acts as a serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, which helps improve mood and relieve pain. It is important that treatment be supervised by a physician, who will assess the patient's response and adjust the dose as needed.
Composition
Each Cymbalta capsule contains 30 mg of Duloxetine and excipients necessary for its formulation.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to duloxetine or to any of the components of the formula. It should not be administered in combination with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma. It is also contraindicated in those with severe hepatic insufficiency.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of manic-depressive disorders, as well as in those with a history of substance abuse. It is important to monitor patients during treatment for the possibility of suicidal thoughts, especially at the beginning of treatment or when making dose changes. It is recommended to avoid alcohol consumption during treatment.
