Indications
Crestor is indicated for the treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia (heterozygous familial and non-familial) and mixed dyslipidemia in adults and adolescents over 10 years of age. It is also used for the prevention of cardiovascular events in patients at high risk, including those with a history of coronary heart disease or type 2 diabetes mellitus, as well as in patients with other cardiovascular risk factors.
It is important to note that treatment should be supplemented with an appropriate diet and lifestyle changes in order to achieve optimal control of blood lipid levels.
Composition
Each Crestor tablet contains 5 mg of Rosuvastatin as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients such as microcrystalline cellulose, starch, and other inactive components that facilitate the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rosuvastatin or any component of the formulation. It should not be administered in cases of active liver disease or persistent elevations of serum transaminases. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.
Precautions
Regular monitoring of liver enzymes is recommended in patients starting Crestor treatment, especially in those with a history of liver disease. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of kidney disease or who are taking other medications that may interact with rosuvastatin.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
