Indications
Crestor is indicated for the reduction of elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apolipoprotein B, and triglyceride levels, as well as for increasing HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary or mixed dyslipidemia. It is also used for the prevention of cardiovascular events in high-risk patients, such as those with known coronary artery disease or type 2 diabetes mellitus, in combination with lifestyle changes.
Composition
Each Crestor tablet contains 40 mg of rosuvastatin as the active ingredient. Excipients are: microcrystalline cellulose, lactose, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to any of the excipients, in those with active liver disease, persistent elevations of liver transaminases, and in pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease, excessive alcohol consumption, untreated hypothyroidism, and in those receiving other medications that may interact with rosuvastatin. Regular monitoring of liver function during treatment is recommended.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place and protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
