Indications
Creon 150 mg is indicated for the treatment of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, which can be a consequence of various medical conditions such as cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis, surgical resection of the pancreas, or pancreas-related diseases. Pancreatin, its active ingredient, helps to improve the digestion of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins, facilitating the absorption of nutrients in the small intestine. It is essential that its use be carried out under the supervision of a healthcare professional who will determine the appropriate dose and evaluate the response to treatment.
Composition
Each Creon 150 mg capsule contains: 150 mg of pancreatin, which includes lipase, amylase, and protease, in addition to excipients such as gelatin and titanium dioxide for its formulation.
Contraindications
Creon should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to pancreatin or to any of the excipients in the formula. It is also contraindicated in cases of acute pancreatitis or exacerbations of chronic pancreatitis.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of gout or hyperuricemia, as pancreatin may increase uric acid levels. It is important to monitor the patient's intestinal function and nutritional status during treatment. In addition, the need to adjust the dose based on the clinical response and the severity of pancreatic insufficiency should be considered.
