Indications
Cozaar Xq is a medication indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension in adults. Its combination of losartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, and amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, acts synergistically to reduce blood pressure. This drug can be used as initial therapy or in patients who have not achieved adequate blood pressure control with a single medication. Additionally, its use may be considered in patients with comorbidities such as type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease, always under medical supervision.
Composition
Each Cozaar Xq tablet contains:
- Losartan 50 mg
- Amlodipine 5 mg
Contraindications
Cozaar Xq is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the components of the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe hepatic insufficiency, pregnancy, and lactation. Likewise, it should not be administered in combination with certain ACE inhibitors in patients with a history of angioedema.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of renal artery stenosis, heart failure, and in those with dehydration or hypovolemia. It is important to monitor renal function and electrolytes in patients treated with Cozaar Xq, as well as to evaluate its use in older people or those with pre-existing cardiovascular diseases.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of reach of children. Storage temperature should not exceed 30 °C.
