Indications

Cozaar (Losartan) is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension in adults and children over 6 years of age. This medication works by blocking angiotensin II receptors, which results in a decrease in blood pressure. It is also used to reduce the risk of stroke in patients with hypertension and hypertensive heart disease, as well as in renal failure in type 2 diabetic patients. Furthermore, it can be used in the treatment of heart failure as adjunctive therapy.

Composition

Each Cozaar tablet contains 50 mg of Losartan and excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, starch, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

Cozaar is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Losartan or any of the excipients. It should not be used in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, nor in patients with bilateral renal artery stenosis or with a history of angioedema associated with treatment with angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of hepatic or renal insufficiency or cardiovascular problems. Care should also be taken in dehydrated or hypovolemic patients, as the use of Losartan can cause an additional decrease in blood pressure. Regular medical follow-up is important during treatment.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
