Indications

Cozaar (Losartan) is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension in adults and children over 6 years of age. Its antihypertensive action is achieved by antagonizing angiotensin II receptors, resulting in vasodilation and decreased peripheral vascular resistance. This medication is also used to reduce the risk of stroke in hypertensive patients with left ventricular hypertrophy, as well as in the treatment of diabetic nephropathy in type 2 diabetic patients with hypertension.

Composition

Each tablet contains: 50 mg of Losartan (as Losartan potassium) and excipients: lactose, starch, talc, and magnesium stearate.

Contraindications

Cozaar is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Losartan or any of the excipients in the formula. It is also contraindicated in pregnant or breastfeeding women. It should not be administered to patients with bilateral renal artery stenosis or stenosis in a single kidney, as well as those with a history of angioedema associated with treatment with angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with renal insufficiency, hepatic insufficiency, or a history of angioedema. Blood pressure and kidney function should be monitored during treatment. Likewise, the risk of hypotension should be considered in dehydrated patients or those with hypovolemia.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
