Indications

Cozaar is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension in adults and children over 6 years of age. It is also used to reduce the risk of stroke in hypertensive patients with left ventricular hypertrophy. In addition, it is indicated for the treatment of nephropathy in type 2 diabetic patients who present proteinuria, to improve kidney function and prolong kidney life.

Composition

Each tablet contains: Losartan (as losartan potassium) 100 mg. Excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

Cozaar is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to losartan or any of the excipients. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation, as well as in patients with bilateral renal artery stenosis or in those with a history of angioedema associated with previous treatments with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs).

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of renal insufficiency, heart failure, dehydration, or hypovolemia. Monitor kidney function and electrolytes, especially during the first months of treatment. Concomitant use with other antihypertensives is not recommended without adequate medical supervision.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C. Keep in its original packaging and out of reach of children.
