Indications

Cosentyx is indicated for the treatment of various autoimmune conditions, including: psoriatic arthritis in adults, ankylosing spondylitis, and moderate to severe plaque psoriasis in adults who are candidates for systemic therapy. Secukinumab works by inhibiting interleukin-17A, a proinflammatory cytokine that plays a key role in the pathogenesis of these diseases. Treatment with Cosentyx can help improve symptoms, quality of life, and physical function in patients affected by these conditions.

Composition

Each Cosentyx syringe contains 150 mg of secukinumab in 1 ml of injectable solution. Excipients include sodium chloride, sodium citrate, hydrochloric acid, and water for injection.

Contraindications

Cosentyx is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to secukinumab or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be administered to patients with severe active infections, including tuberculosis.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of recurrent or chronic infections. It is important to perform a tuberculosis screening before starting treatment. Patients should be monitored during treatment for signs of infection.

Storage

Cosentyx should be stored refrigerated between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. The medication can be stored at room temperature (up to 25°C) for a maximum of 14 days, but should not be used after the expiration date indicated on the package.
