Indications
Cortiment is indicated for the treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, as well as for the management of symptoms associated with respiratory diseases such as asthma and allergic rhinitis. This medication works by reducing inflammation in the intestines and airways, thus improving the patient's quality of life. Budesonide, its active ingredient, has a potent anti-inflammatory effect and is effective at low doses, which minimizes systemic side effects.
Composition
Each tablet contains 9 mg of budesonide as the active ingredient. Excipients: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, among others.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to budesonide or any of the excipients in the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with uncontrolled systemic infections, or in those with active tuberculosis or fungal infections.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of peptic ulcers, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, and cardiovascular diseases. Regular monitoring for adverse effects and dose adjustment based on the patient's clinical response are recommended. Abrupt discontinuation of treatment is not advisable, as it may cause a rebound of symptoms.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place and away from light. Keep out of reach of children.
