Indications
Cordarone is indicated for the treatment of various cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, and ventricular fibrillation. Its use is recommended in patients at risk of severe arrhythmias, as well as in those who have experienced recurrent episodes of arrhythmias that do not respond to other treatments. Additionally, it can be used in emergency situations for the control of life-threatening arrhythmias. It is important that the use of Cordarone is supervised by a physician, who will determine the appropriate need and dosage for each patient.
Composition
Each Cordarone tablet contains 200 mg of amiodarone as the active ingredient. It also includes excipients that allow for the formulation and stability of the medication.
Contraindications
Cordarone is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to amiodarone or any of its excipients. It should not be administered to individuals with uncontrolled thyroid dysfunction, severe bradycardia, second- or third-degree atrioventricular block without a pacemaker, or those with a history of amiodarone-associated pulmonary toxicity. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation, unless the benefit outweighs the risk.
Precautions
Precautions should be taken when administering Cordarone to patients with pre-existing pulmonary, hepatic, or thyroid diseases. Regular medical monitoring is recommended to check for any possible adverse effects, especially during prolonged treatments. Patients should be informed about the possibility of side effects and the importance of reporting any unusual or severe symptoms.
