Indications
Concerta is indicated for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in patients aged 6 years and older. Methylphenidate is a central nervous system stimulant that helps increase attention and control impulsive behavior and hyperactivity. It is important that treatment is carried out under the supervision of a physician, who will evaluate the response to the medication and adjust the dose as necessary. Concerta is especially useful in cases where ADHD has a significant impact on the patient's academic and social performance.
Composition
Each Concerta tablet contains 54 mg of methylphenidate, in addition to excipients such as lactose, starch, hypromellose, and other inactive components that allow for the proper formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to methylphenidate or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be administered to patients with a history of tics, Tourette's syndrome, or those who are using monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). It is also contraindicated in people with severe cardiovascular diseases, uncontrolled hypertension, and those with a history of substance abuse.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when using Concerta in patients with a history of psychiatric disorders, epilepsy, or those with cardiovascular problems. It is important to regularly monitor blood pressure and heart rate during treatment. It is recommended to periodically evaluate the need to continue treatment and adjust the dose if necessary. Prolonged use can lead to dependence, so it should be administered with care.
Storage
Store at room temperature (between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius), in a dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
