Indications

Concerta is indicated for the treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children aged six and over, adolescents, and adults. It is used as part of a comprehensive treatment program that may include psychological, educational, and social therapy. Methylphenidate, its active ingredient, acts as a central nervous system stimulant, improving attention and concentration, and reducing impulsivity and hyperactivity in patients diagnosed with ADHD.

Composition

Each tablet contains 18 mg of methylphenidate (as hydrochloride). Excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

Concerta is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to methylphenidate or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be administered to patients with a history of substance abuse, as well as those with glaucoma, severe anxiety, agitation, or a history of seizures. Its use in combination with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) is contraindicated due to the risk of severe adverse reactions.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, mental illness, or who are taking other medications that affect the central nervous system. Regular growth monitoring is recommended for children and adolescents during treatment. Additionally, abrupt discontinuation of treatment should be avoided to prevent withdrawal symptoms.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at temperatures not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
