Indications
Combodart is indicated for the treatment of adults with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Dutasteride works by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that contributes to prostate growth. Tamsulosin, on the other hand, is a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist, which helps relax the muscles of the prostate and urethra, thus facilitating urination. This medication is suitable for patients with moderate to severe urinary symptoms associated with BPH.
Composition
Each Combodart capsule contains 0.5 mg of dutasteride and 0.4 mg of tamsulosin.
Contraindications
Combodart should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula, as well as in those with a history of severe allergic reactions. It is also contraindicated in women and children, as well as in those with severe liver disease.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of orthostatic hypotension, as tamsulosin can cause this condition. It is also important to monitor liver function in patients with pre-existing conditions. Patients should be informed about the possibility of experiencing adverse effects such as dizziness or drowsiness, and should avoid activities that require attention and coordination until their response to the treatment is known.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place and protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
