Indications
Colizactive (Irinotecan) is indicated for the treatment of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. It is generally used in patients who have progressed on standard therapy or who are not candidates for surgical treatments. This medication works by inhibiting the topoisomerase I enzyme, which interferes with DNA replication and cell division, resulting in the death of cancer cells. It is particularly effective in combination with other chemotherapeutic agents to improve clinical response and survival.
Composition
Each ampule of Colizactive contains 100 mg of Irinotecan, in addition to excipients necessary for its formulation and stability.
Contraindications
Colizactive is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Irinotecan or any of its components. It should also be avoided in patients with severe diarrhea or dehydration, as well as those with severe infections or a history of severe toxicity to previous chemotherapy.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with compromised liver function, as Irinotecan is primarily metabolized in the liver. In addition, it is recommended to monitor hematological function, as it can cause leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and anemia. It is important to assess the patient's general condition and the presence of infections before starting treatment.
Storage
Colizactive should be stored in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of the reach of children. The storage temperature should not exceed 25°C. Do not use the medication after the expiration date indicated on the package.
