Indications

Co-Diovan is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension in adults. It is used as a first-line therapy or in patients who do not achieve adequate blood pressure control with a single antihypertensive medication. Additionally, it can be used in patients with chronic heart failure, as well as in the prevention of cardiovascular events in patients at high risk of cardiovascular disease. The combination of Valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, and Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, provides a synergistic effect in reducing blood pressure.

Composition

Each tablet of Co-Diovan contains:
Valsartan: 320 mg
Hydrochlorothiazide: 25 mg

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula. It should not be administered to patients with a history of angioedema related to previous treatments with angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor blockers. It is also contraindicated in cases of severe renal impairment, anuria, and during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of renal artery stenosis, hepatic impairment, or in those who are being treated with other antihypertensive agents. It is important to monitor renal function and electrolyte levels in patients on long-term treatment. The use of Co-Diovan during pregnancy and lactation should be carefully evaluated and monitored.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
