Indications

Co-Diovan is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults. It is also used in patients with heart failure and in those who have suffered a recent myocardial infarction, in combination with other antihypertensive medications. The combination of valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, and hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic, provides a synergistic effect that helps to effectively reduce blood pressure. It is important that the use of this medication be supervised by a doctor, who will evaluate the appropriate dose and treatment for each patient.

Composition

Each Co-Diovan tablet contains 320 mg of valsartan and 12.5 mg of hydrochlorothiazide as active ingredients. In addition, it contains excipients that facilitate its formulation and administration.

Contraindications

Co-Diovan is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide, or any component of the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with a history of angioedema associated with previous treatment with ACE inhibitors. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe renal insufficiency or in those who are being treated with potent diuretics.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when using Co-Diovan in patients with a history of dehydration, hypovolemia, or electrolyte imbalances.
