Indications
Cluminol is indicated for the treatment and prevention of malaria caused by Plasmodium vivax, Plasmodium falciparum, and other types of Plasmodium. Additionally, it is used in the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis. Hydroxychloroquine acts as an immunomodulatory agent, reducing the activity of the immune system and decreasing inflammation in autoimmune conditions. Its use in the treatment of certain viral infections has also been studied, although its efficacy in this regard is not fully established.
Composition
Each Cluminol tablet contains 200 mg of hydroxychloroquine as the active ingredient. Excipients include: corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Cluminol is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to hydroxychloroquine or to any of the components of the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with retinopathy, due to its potential to cause ocular damage. It should not be used in patients with porphyria disorders or in those with severe hepatic or renal function alterations.
Precautions
Caution is advised in patients with a history of cardiovascular diseases, as hydroxychloroquine may cause arrhythmias. In addition, regular monitoring of ocular function should be considered in patients using the medication for prolonged periods. During pregnancy and lactation, the use of Cluminol must be carefully evaluated by a physician.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
