Indications
Clavulin is an antibiotic indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections of various locations and severity, including upper and lower respiratory tract infections, acute and chronic sinusitis, otitis media, skin and soft tissue infections, as well as urinary tract infections. It is particularly effective against infections caused by beta-lactamase-producing microorganisms, which confer resistance to other antibiotics. This medication is indicated for pediatric and adult patients, always under the supervision and prescription of a healthcare professional.
Composition
Each 5 ml of suspension contains: Amoxicillin 250 mg and Potassium Clavulanate 62.5 mg. Excipients: flavorings, sweeteners, and preservatives.
Contraindications
Clavulin is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, potassium clavulanate, or any other component of the formula. Its use is not recommended in cases with a history of jaundice or hepatic dysfunction associated with the use of amoxicillin/clavulanate.
Precautions
Precautions should be taken in patients with kidney disease, as dosage adjustment may be necessary. Additionally, follow-up is recommended in patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, especially colitis, as an increased incidence of adverse effects may occur. It is important to inform the doctor about any concomitant medication to prevent drug interactions.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Once opened, the suspension must be used within 14 days and should be refrigerated.
