Indications
Clavulin is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. It is used for respiratory tract infections, otitis media, acute sinusitis, skin and soft tissue infections, and urinary tract infections. The combination of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid enhances antibacterial action, allowing for a broader spectrum and overcoming bacterial resistance mechanisms. This medication is effective in treating mixed infections and those where the presence of beta-lactamase-producing bacteria is suspected.
Composition
Each 5 mL of suspension contains: Amoxicillin 600 mg and Clavulanic Acid 42.9 mg. Excipients: sucrose, xanthan gum, strawberry flavor, among others.
Contraindications
Clavulin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid, penicillins, or any of the components of the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of cholestatic jaundice or hepatic dysfunction associated with the use of amoxicillin/clavulanic acid.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver or kidney disease. It is important to monitor liver function during treatment, especially during prolonged treatment. Monitoring is recommended for patients with a history of allergies or asthma.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
