Indications
Clavulin is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections susceptible to the combination of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. This medication is commonly used for respiratory tract infections, such as sinusitis, otitis media, and pneumonia. It is also effective for urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, as well as dental infections. The combined action of these two components allows for the treatment of infections caused by bacteria that may be resistant to amoxicillin alone, thereby increasing its spectrum of activity. It should be used under the supervision of a physician, who will assess the necessity and duration of treatment, taking into account the severity of the infection and the patient's response.
Composition
Each 5 ml of suspension contains: Amoxicillin 400 mg and Clavulanic Acid 57 mg.
Contraindications
Clavulin is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid, or any other component of the formulation. It should not be used in cases of a history of cholestatic jaundice or hepatic dysfunction associated with the use of amoxicillin/clavulanic acid.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver or kidney diseases, or those with infectious mononucleosis. It is important to monitor liver function during prolonged treatment. In case of severe allergic reactions, treatment should be discontinued immediately and medical attention sought.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C. Protect from light and moisture. After opening, the suspension must be used within 14 days and stored in refrigeration.
