Indications
Clavulin is indicated in the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. It is effective in respiratory tract infections, otitis media, sinusitis, skin and soft tissue infections, as well as urinary tract infections. Its combined action of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid allows for greater efficacy against beta-lactamase-producing bacterial strains, which are responsible for resistance to other antibiotics. It is recommended to use this medication in the context of infections where the presence of these resistant bacteria is suspected.
Composition
Each 5 mL of suspension contains:
- Amoxicillin (as trihydrate): 400 mg
- Clavulanic acid (as potassium clavulanate): 57 mg
Contraindications
Clavulin is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the components of the formula, as well as in those who have experienced severe allergic reactions to other antibiotics of the penicillin group. Its use should also be avoided in cases of a history of jaundice or hepatic dysfunction associated with previous use of amoxicillin/clavulanic acid.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver diseases, as well as in those with a history of antibiotic-associated colitis. It is advisable to monitor renal function in patients with previous alterations. In case of adverse reactions, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor consulted.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Avoid direct sunlight exposure. Keep out of reach of children.
