Indications
Clavulin is an antibiotic indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to amoxicillin. It is used in the treatment of:
- Respiratory tract infections, such as sinusitis and acute otitis media.
- Urinary tract infections, including pyelonephritis and cystitis.
- Skin and soft tissue infections, such as abscesses and cellulitis.
- Dental infections, particularly those related to periodontitis.
- Gastrointestinal infections, such as those caused by Helicobacter pylori, in combination with other drugs.
Composition
Each 5 ml of suspension contains:
- Amoxicillin (as trihydrate): 200 mg
- Clavulanic Acid (as potassium): 28.5 mg
Contraindications
Clavulin is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid, or any other component of the formula. It should also be avoided in cases of antibiotic-associated colitis or in patients with severe hepatic dysfunction.
Precautions
Caution is recommended when using Clavulin in patients with a history of kidney disease, as a dose adjustment may be necessary. Liver function should also be monitored in patients receiving prolonged treatments.
Storage
Store the product at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, protected from light and moisture. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
