Indications
Ciproxina Suspension is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections susceptible to ciprofloxacin. These include respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, and certain skin and soft tissue infections. It is also used in the treatment of traveler's diarrhea caused by Escherichia coli and for the prophylaxis of infections in neutropenic patients. This medication works by inhibiting bacterial DNA synthesis, resulting in bacterial death. It is important that the use of ciprofloxacin be indicated and supervised by a healthcare professional, considering the susceptibility of the bacteria and the severity of the infection.
Composition
Each 5 ml of suspension contains 250 mg of ciprofloxacin, as well as excipients that allow for the formulation of the product.
Contraindications
Ciproxina is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin or other fluoroquinolone antibiotics. It is also contraindicated in children and growing adolescents due to the risk of affecting joint development. Its use is not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women without medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of seizures, kidney or liver problems, and in those taking medications that may affect the central nervous system. Prolonged exposure to sunlight should be avoided, as ciprofloxacin can increase skin sensitivity to sunlight. Additionally, care should be taken with concomitant use with other medications that may affect the concentration of ciprofloxacin in the body.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
