Indications
Ciproxina (Ciprofloxacin) is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections in various locations of the body. It is effective in the management of urinary tract infections, respiratory infections, gastrointestinal infections, and some skin and soft tissue infections. It is also used in the treatment of chronic bacterial prostatitis and in the prophylaxis of infections in neutropenic patients. Ciprofloxacin works by inhibiting bacterial DNA synthesis, resulting in the death of susceptible bacteria.
Composition
Each Ciproxina tablet contains 250 mg of ciprofloxacin as an active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients such as starch, microcrystalline cellulose, and other inactive components that facilitate the formulation and absorption of the medication.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin or other antibiotics of the fluoroquinolone class. It should not be administered to patients with a history of tendinopathy related to fluoroquinolone use. Caution should be exercised in its use in patients with severe kidney disease.
Precautions
Ciproxina is recommended to be used with caution in patients with a history of seizures, central nervous system disorders, or those taking medications that may increase the risk of seizures. Additionally, care should be taken in patients with myasthenia gravis, as it may worsen muscle weakness. It is important to avoid exposure to intense sunlight during treatment due to the risk of photosensitivity.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
